2 Minute Tuesdays... slow start to the year for me...maybe you too?

I had the best intention of starting the year off awesome.. but last year just seemed to roll into January and now it's Feb!! 

With Bo starting Prep and Harper turning 1 and walking at the same time, while these are a  couple of awesome milestones, I have certainly become a little lazy with my routine... more interesting though.... I have found myself becoming quiet irritable, impatient and snappy with both Bo and Ange... 

So....I did a little check in with myself and there a few things that I have noticed that I have not been doing..... I haven't been meditating at all this year, I haven't been drinking my glass of lemon water when I get up in the morning let alone water, while I have been surfing pretty much everyday, but I haven't been doing any high intensity training, I haven't had a bulletproof coffee this year (not that I have been missing it.. I have been having double shot almond latte though after I drop Bo to school)... and not sure who else does this, but when I have been getting fuel, I have been buying a mango weis bar...  a couple of old bad habits sneaking back in...

So I asked myself this question....when was I performing at my best.... as a Dad, Husband and in our business...what was it that I was doing...

And yep... it all came down to my morning routine and rituals....

I noticed I was at my best when:

1. I meditated each morning before everyone in the house got up.. (10 minute guided mediation using headspace)

2. Had my usual lemon water (sprinkle of pink Himalayan sea salt) followed by another glass of water.. (2 minutes to prepare and drink) 

3. Stretched... lately, it may be old age..ahahaha but I have been a little stiff when I get up in the morning, so I have been doing a quick stretching routine; of my hammies, glutes (lower back) and traps (neck)... (6 mins.. 1 minute each stretch)

4. When I surfed or did a training session.. I surf for an hour.. or if the surf isn't any good my HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) down at the park, which is usually 5 rounds of 5 pull-ups or dips, 10 push-ups (or burpees), 10 sit-ups,  10 squats..takes max (15mins)...

Apart from the surf..this little morning ritual takes approx 30mins.. 

These last 2 mornings I have felt awesome again..
